People with No Consciences (and a Precious Boy to Remind Me of the Good in the World)

Today, I sat down at the computer to tackle the yucky chore of paying bills. And when reviewing my bank account online discovered a charge against my debit card that I had not made, for a restaurant around the corner from where we live. Called the bank first and they told me to start with the restaurant. Called them and found out that my debit card number had been used for a delivery order. They gave me the address of where the food was delivered and will get back to me so that I can be credited. It was only for $35, but I felt really violated. Called the bank, then, to cancel my card and make sure no other fraudulent purchases had been made. Then called the police to file a case. $35 or not, it's a crime and I ain't sitting around lettin' it happen. Armed with the address of the person who used my card number, it's super tempting to confront them myself, but I'll leave that to the police.

In the midst of all the phone calls it took to remedy the situation, I looked down at my feet and saw this sweet view of Gideon sleeping. As soon as I snapped the picture, he moved to the sofa and curled up there. What a precious boy.

Oh my gosh, he is so cute! He just looks like a good cuddle dog.

I'm sorry you had your number stolen. I had mine stolen by a kid at a convenience store who used it to buy enough porn to empty out my account! To top it all off, we were stuck out of town without money. I can totally relate and I'm glad you're getting it credited back.

Oh man, I feel for you! About a month after we got married someone stole my hubby's number and bough t a bunch of stuff in Mexico. Luckily our bank credited it back, even though they didn't have to concidering the purchase.

Also, Gideon is so cute I could just squish him!

Dawn,
I can definitely relate to how you felt. Several years back we had our checks that we had ordered stolen out of the mail. When the box came it had been taped back together, and I am sure it was the Holy Spirit telling me to check the box because I never do and lo and behold the last checkboook was missing. The bank thought I was overreacting when I went in to close the account, but the next day when the checks started floating in my fear was confirmed. Long story short, it took months of investigation on my part, contacting every place when a check was written there, I contacted the PD in Atlanta(checks were stolen @ postal depot in Atl)filed a report, and literally did all the footwork. They actually tried to write a 35,000.00 check on my acct. An arrest was made, and we actually went to Atl to testify in court. The person ended up pleading guilty and was sentenced. The sad part is he just purchased these on the street with fake id and all so he was not the actual one who stole it. It took a long time before I could even write a check without problems. I will pray the situation is remedied soon and you have no further problems. Even in all this I have to remember, GOD is still good. Have a great 4th!

I totally know what you mean, it is not about the money, it is the principle, it is just wrong! Part of why I have been scarce lately is that someone somehow got my business credit card number and all but wiped it out. :( So so creepy! So good for you Dawn! I'm happy to hear that you are taking action about this. Big thieves start out as small thieves!
