A cottage cheese ceiling with water damage.
Came home this Wednesday evening to discover a puddle in the middle of the hallway carpet. Looked up to see a dimpled and somewhat bulging ceiling, heavy with water and dripping. Not a plumbing issue but a heating/AC one. Seems that there's some faulty mechanism on my AC unit that caused an excess of condensation on the pipes snaking through my ceiling to the attic furnace. Am close to getting the AC fixed, but now have to deal with homeowner's insurance to repair the ceiling. Perhaps in the process I can get rid of the cottage cheese?!?!?!
With our AC off for two days (and temps here in ATL in the high 90's), our poor Gideon has been boarded at the vet's. With a part on order and likely not to get installed until next week, it will be a long couple of days with nothing but fans going in every room. There's nothing worse than getting ready in the morning — especially if it involves a hair dryer — whilst sweating like a pig.
It is so hot here, I could not imagine having to be without AC. What a way to have to sweat off some calories huh? Hope your weekend gets better. Did you see the award I left for you? Check it out if you have not already.

Wow, that stinks!!!! Its in the 100s here and I couldn't imagine not having the AC right now. I hope you get this fixed quick!
ReplyDeleteOh NOOO You poor things!!:( That cottage cheese ceiling stuff is easier than you think to get off. You just take a scraper to it when it is wet. Friends of mine did it. It takes some patience, but they just used a squirt bottle of water and scraped away. NOTHING is worse than getting ready in the day with no AC and you have to use the hair dryer!! You feel like taking another shower when you are done! Hope it get sorted out soon.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, if I were you, I'd splurge on a hotel. Make it a mini-vaca.
ReplyDeleteSeriously.
It's too damn hot and you're worth it.
How miserable...ugh, I feel for you!
ReplyDeleteI vote for taking your shower at night, it will cool you off so you can sleep and then you won't need a blow dryer in the morning for your hair.
I hope these next few days fly by for you!!!
Oh yikes! I hope everything gets worked out soon! xo-Mel
ReplyDeleteDawn, I feel for you girls and the dog with no air.
ReplyDeleteHow did people in the old South live? Maybe being Scarlett O'Hara wouldn't be as much fun as I thought with all those petticoats.
Try to think cool thoughts and maybe try a couple of days at a hotel.
I would hug you but it's too stinkin hot!
