One other thing I love about the window above my kitchen sink is the lamp that graces the side of the cabinet, giving me light to wash dishes at night. I remember my Nana having a light above her kitchen sink and the grandchildren thinking it was a thrill to stand on a chair and do the dishes after a meal (this was obviously before dishwashers). I think her's might have been a fluorescent one, but it was a light nonetheless. I got mine at a silent auction at the Fall Festival of my parents' Catholic church. I don't remember it costing that much (although all of it went to charitable causes), but the silk shade was a little pricey, but so worth it. It feels vintagey, and thats what I was going for.
That is a truly adorable lamp. You have a bit of a lamp addiction, yes? I have that too. With blankets, and tea towels, and platters and pillowcases...
ReplyDeleteWell it's all good.
Have a great week.

PS Oh, any luck with the Canadian Home and Country?
I never thought to put a lamp over my sink. What a great idea! Now I must go look at ebay to find one as beautiful as yours!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could do that over my sink, there is never enough light. It would be a nice touch and not make doing the hand washables so annoying!
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother had a light next to her kitchen window as well. Yours reminds me of hers and how cozy it is. Love the lamp base. If you don't mind me suggesting...you should sew a little 1/4" -1/2" wide x abut 15" long scrunchie to cover your cord. I do that sometimes when the cord has to show.
